What your monthly report actually looks like

This is a real report format, anonymized from an HVAC client. No dashboard screenshots, no vanity metrics — just what happened, what it meant for the phone, and what we're doing next.

    Monthly report · September 2026

    HVAC contractor, western Chicago suburbs

Month 9 of engagement · Prepared by the strategist who did the work

    The short version

Search brought you 47 qualified calls and form fills in September, up from 31 in June. That's the number that matters. Everything below explains where those leads came from, what didn't work, and what we're doing about it.

    Leads from search

Qualified calls & forms from search
47 (up from 31 in June)
    Calls from Google Business Profile
    26
Calls & forms from website pages
    21
Cost per lead vs. your old ad spend
    Down 41%

We count a lead as qualified when it's in your service area and about a service you actually want. Spam calls and out-of-area inquiries are excluded — padding these numbers would only fool us both.

    What worked this month

    • The new "emergency furnace repair" page reached page one for 4 of its 6 target phrases and generated 11 calls.
    • Google Business Profile views are up 38% since we added service photos and corrected the secondary categories.
    • Three articles published in August now bring in a combined 210 visits a month — none of them existed 90 days ago.

What didn't — and what we're doing about it

    • The "AC installation cost" article is stuck at position 12–14. We're rewriting the pricing section with real local numbers instead of national averages.
    • Review velocity slowed to 3 new reviews this month (target: 6). We've adjusted the ask to happen at the payment step, when satisfaction is highest.

    Hours and work completed

34 hours this month: 11 on content, 9 on technical fixes, 8 on link earning, 6 on your Google Business Profile and reviews. Every hour is itemized in the attached log — you can ask about any line.

    Next month

    • Publish two articles targeting "furnace making noise" and "AC freezing up" searches — both spike as temperatures drop.
    • Build a dedicated Naperville service page now that 22% of calls come from that area.
    • Earn two local links: the regional HVAC suppliers' directory and a home-safety guide partnership with a local insurance office.

Questions about any of this? Your monthly call is scheduled for the 8th — or just reply to this report. A person wrote it, and that person answers.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to with every client, every month. See what an engagement costs.

    Request a strategic audit

Find out what's holding your site back.

A real person spends about four hours auditing your site, then sends you a plain-English document. It's free, and there's no sales call afterward unless you ask.

Typical turnaround: 5 business days · No contract required

No sales call. We send the document and that's it unless you reply.
